IOPP QR code seminar

As part of IOPP ( Institute Of Packaging Professionals ) Ontario Chapter' s ( of which I am a board member ) continuing need to provide and teach the newest technologies in the industries, we hosted a “What’s new with Barcodes?” Breakfast seminar on January 19 2011
This Seminar features as its guest speaker, Mr. John Herzig from Barcode Graphics. He provided us first with an overview of some of the technologies that are coming up with traditional “1D” Barcodes.
John then began to speak about the newest “2D” barcode technologies such as those you would see on packaging and trade advertising

We learned the differences between different 2D barcodes (what is the difference between a QR code and a Datamatrix code? Where would an Aztec code be used?). John explained how the function of a 2D barcode can change over time (one day it can have a recipe and the next day, if needed, have recall information). With a 2D barcode it is even possible to correct errors after the barcode is printed. Some 2D barcodes can be damaged and still be readable as a mathematical algorythm can reconstitute it. No more problems of readibility !

This opens a lot of new perspectives for the Consumer Packaged Goods industry !

Below you will find an example of a QR code with a link to my videoBIO
